What’s Hootin’ Valentine?!

It’s a New Year and Valentine’s Day is just around the corner already! I created this cute Valentine Card as part of a baggie book sampler that my downline group, Sherindipity Stampers, and I worked on last weekend.  We prepared samples using 7 different stamp sets to show our customers for upcoming workshops and open houses featuring stamps and accessories from the new Mini Occasions catalog which runs from January 4 – April 30 and the Sale-A-Bration catalog which runs from January 25 – March 31. Aren’t the little owls so cute? They are made by stamping the owl from the new “Punch Bunch” set from the Sale-A-Bration catalog and then punching them out using Stampin’ Up!’s owl punch.  You can get this stamp set FREE with a $50 purchase beginning January 24! I was so happy with the way this card turned out, especially using the new Red Glimmer Paper from the Mini Occasions catalog, that I decided to use the idea for my scrapbook layout class that I will be teaching at a crop in Ocean City later this month at the Princess Royale Hotel.

I wanted to be able to show how you can extend the card idea all the way into a scrapbook layout when you have such a versatile stamp set such as the “Filled With Love” stamp set that originated in the Holiday Mini catalog last fall but has been extended through 1/24/11.  Check out my Stampin’ Up! website to see the great “Filled With Love” Bundle Promotion Details featuring this stamp set, a pack of designer series paper and FREE package of bitty buttons.

Stamp Supplies:  Stamp Sets:  Filled With Love and Punch Bunch; Cardstock:  Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Real Red, & Crumb Cake; Ink:  Chocolate Chip & Versamark; Specialty Paper:  Red Glimmer Paper; Accessories:  Clear Embossing Powder, Embossing Gun, Punches:  Two-Step Owl, Scallop Trim Border, Small Heart, Full Heart, Circles – 3/4″, 1″, 1-1/4″, 1-3/8″, 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle, Rhinestones, and Dimensionals.

Two Grads in the Family

Both of my beautiful nieces graduated this year and so I have been busy making cards and announcements. The first card I made for my sweet niece, Brianna, who stepped in to help me out last year with my stepson, Donnie, while my husband was in the hospital and out of work on disability for 7 weeks.  Brianna was home-schooled and will be going on to Harford Community College in the Fall.

The next photos are of the announcement I made for my wonderful niece, Heather, who graduated from South River High School.  She is a very hard worker and has  been working at the Hair Cuttery for two years now and will be taking her final test soon to get her cosmetology license.  She will be attending Anne Arundel Community College in the Fall.

Heather did not want the traditional announcements that you can purchase from school so I created a sample and then got together with Heather and her mom on a Sunday afternoon.  We got our production line going with the two of them doing all the sponging of ink, itty bitty dotting, and glueing and I did the stamping, layering and construction of the announcements. We made 35 of them to give to her closest friends and family.  It’s a cute little three way card that can be kept open and on display for all to see.

Congrats to both Brianna and Heather! I am so proud of you!

Card – Stamp Sets:  Vintage Vogue, Flores Suaves, Happy Grad; Cardstock: Bordering Blue, Whisper White; Ink: Bordering Blue, Soft Suede; Accessories:  Vintage Brads, Stampin’ Sponge, and Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon.

Announcement:  Stamp Sets:  Lovely Letters Alphabet, Tres Chic, Tiny Tags and Hope Happens and Baroque Border Wheel; Cardstock:  Brilliant Blue, Shimmery White (cover), Whisper White, and Brushed Silver; Ink:  Brilliant Blue; Accessories:  Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Stampin’ Around Handle, Brilliant Blue Ink Cartridge, Stampin’ Dimensionals, and Punches: 1-1/4″ and 1-3/8″ Circles and Oval Scallop.  The 2010 and inside announcement were printed on my home computer and printer on Whisper White Cardstock.

Christmas Already?!!!!

Christmas Jingle Cards

I know, most of you are probably thinking, is she crazy thinking about Christmas already?  My Christmas was pretty hectic last year so I thought I would begin my new year off right by offering three classes to get everyone jump started on their Christmas preparations.  In this first class, we will use the Christmas Jingle Scrappin’ Kit and begin making our first set of Christmas cards, as well as a Holiday Planner Box to keep all of them organized.  We will also complete the first holiday scrapbooking layout of three layouts. Each layout will consist of two pages.  The 2nd and 3rd layouts will be completed in the next classes in July and October.  There is plenty of storage space in the Holiday Planner Box to keep your shopping lists, Christmas card lists and postage stamps.  Have you ever forgotten that you purchased something for someone in June while you were on vacation, bring it home and hide it and then forget where you put it. This is one way to keep yourself organized throughout the year. Take your Planner Box with you everywhere or keep it next to your favorite chair in the living room.  Then while watching your favorite t.v. shows, you can catch up on all those little lists of things to remember, post-it notes with ideas, and a scrap of paper with a new friend’s address so you make sure they get a Christmas Card from you this year.  I know this project is going to help me out alot personally this year!

Sunday, April 25 – 12 Noon to 6:00 p.m.

Sunday, May 2 – 12 Noon to 6:00 p.m.

Cost:  $60.00 (Cost includes the Simply Scrappin’ Kit Christmas Jingle and the Forget Me Not Keeper)

Location:  My Home Studio

Please note the date change and that I have also added an additional class day based on my customers’ requests.  I hope one of these two dates will fit into your schedules now.   This class may not take the full 6 hours to complete the projects, however, I have allotted extra time for my customers new to stamping.  Class fee must be paid in full no later than April 20, 2010.  Complete instructions on how to make your projects will be included with this class.

Please E-MAIL me to sign up for this class at

Successful Spring Open House!

Held my Open House this weekend and loved seeing my customers, old as well as new! We enjoyed good company, good food (chili on Friday night and chicken salad on Saturday) and some fun projects which I designed with the beautiful Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper. The colors featured in this paper packet are Orchid Opulence, Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry.

6x6 Spring Scrapbook Page

The first project was a 6×6 Spring scrapbook page. I stamped the medallion on Whisper White cardstock, punched it out with a circle punch, mounted it on the Small Round Metal Edge Tag, added a white half pearl from the Pretties Kit and popped it all up with dimensionals making a beautiful spotlight on this small page.  You can always add this smaller page to a 12×12 page by adding more designer series paper onto your 12×12 cardstock and then your 6×6 will become your focal point or embellishment on the page.

Mother's Day Card with Matching Envelope

The second project was a Mother’s Day card using those beautiful large flowers from the Stampin’ Up! Pretties kit. They are originally white, but we dyed this one a Rich Razzleberry by using an Aqua Painter and dipping it into some Rich Razzleberry ink and painting it onto the flower. You should start light and add more color as you go along.  The shade you desire is all up to you.

Scallop Bag Easter Treat

The third project was a cute little Easter treat bag using the Sizzix Big Shot and the Bigz XL Scallop Bag die. It’s extremely easy to put these little bags together with a few strips of Sticky Strip and would make great favor bags for a wedding.

Last Chance – Big Shot Club and Sale-A-Bration
Some of you have already taken advantage of my Big Shot Club deal (see posting on January 22, 2010), but it’s not too late to take advantage of this great deal! I have extended the special through March 31, however, it will be gone soon and so will Sale-A-Bration. With the Big Shot Club Deal you earn 3 FREE Sale-A-Bration stamp sets, or designer series paper or a scallop trim punch.  By purchasing the Big Shot Club deal you get to take the Big Shot Class for FREE! If you have ordered the Big Shot, it will be here just in time to use it for my class to be held on April 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Anyone who has not purchased the Big Shot can still take the class for $15.00. We will complete 4 projects in class. Please register no later than April 5 to attend.

6×6 Page – Stamp Sets:  Bella Blooms and Charming; Cardstock:  Orchid Opulence, Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive; Ink:  Rich Razzleberry; Designer Series Paper: Cottage Wall; Accessories:  Whisper White Organza Ribbon,  Small Round Metal Edge Tag, White Half Pearl from Pretties Kit, Aqua Painter, Oval Punch, Oval Scallop Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Sending Love Notes (Hugs – cut in half).

Card – Stamp Sets:  All Holidays and Fresh Cuts; Cardstock:  Whisper White, Orchid Opulence, Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry; Ink: Rich Razzleberry; Designer Series Paper:  Cottage Wall; Pretties Kit Flower and Rhinestone Brad, 5 Petal Flower Punch; Pop-Up Glue Dots, Stampin’ Dimensionals, 5/8″ Old Olive Satin Ribbon and Medium Whisper White Square Envelopes.

Treat Bag – Stamp Set:  Teeny Tiny Wishes; Cardstock:  Orchid Opulence, Old Olive, Whisper White and Rich Razzleberry; Scallop Circle Punch, 1-3/8″ Circle and 1-1/4″ Circle Punches, Trio Flower Punch, Big Shot, Bigz XL Scallop Bag Die, Mini Glue Dots and Sticky Strip

Spring/Easter Scrapbooking Layouts

Here are the scrapbooking layouts for my Spring Stamp Camp which will take place on Tuesday, March 16 from 7-10 p.m.  The same layouts will also be available for all the ladies who will be attending the Sophisticated Socials Ocean City Crop the weekend of March 19-21.  Don’t forget to register by Saturday, March 13 by sending me an e-mail to

The first layout shown is an Easter two-page layout featuring the Lovely Letters Alphabet and the cute little Chocolate Bunny from the Mini Occasions catalog.

Easter Layout - Page 1

I wheeled the background of the paper using the Watercolor Vine and Creamy Caramel ink. The wheels are a quick tool for making your own special background paper and are easy to use.  I’ve only added a few photograph mats using the Top Note Die, but you may add additional ones if you have more photos. The little flowers on the corners are a nice attention to detail.

Journal - Page 1

I’ve also included a close up of the journal box on this page.

Some scrappers think you can’t use stamps to make a scrapbooking layout, but if you take this class, you will see how you can’t live without them! I learned to scrap this way – you can make all your own embellishments, especially if you have the right stamp sets. And one can never have too many stamps! LOL! Stampin’ Up! stamp sets are great because they coordinate with each other and usually feature one or two main images and a few for accents and background stamping.

Easter Layout - Page 2

The second page of the layout includes the Chocolate Bunny. This stamp is a definite keeper and the price is awesome for this little guy – only $7.95! I used the new Tiny Tags set to give him a cute little tag and attached it with some linen thread.

Here is a closeup of the bunny – doesn’t he look just delicious!

Chocolate Bunny - Page 2

Supplies:  Stamp Sets:  Chocolate Bunny, Lovely Letters, Tiny Tags, Itty Bitty Backgrounds and Matchbox Messages; Cardstock: So Saffron, Brocade Blue, Creamy Caramel and Very Vanilla; Inks:  Creamy Caramel, Brocade Blue, Basic Brown, Creamy Caramel Ink Catridge for Wheel; Accessories:  Jumbo Wheel Handle, Jumbo Watercolor Vine Wheel, Linen Thread, 5/8″ Brocade Blue Grosgrain Ribbon, Paper Piercing Tool & Mat Pack, Punches: 1-3/8″ Circle, 1-3/4″ Circle, Tiny Tags, Small Oval, Scallop Oval and Trio Flower, Rich Regal Brads – Brocade Blue, Stampin’ Sponges, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Sizzix Big Shot, Bigz Tope Note Die, and Bigz Scallop Envelope Die.

Spring will be here in one week and I can’t wait for it after one of the worst winters in years here in Maryland. Say goodbye to the snow and bring on the flowers along with the Shades of Spring:

Shades of Spring Layout - Page 1

I used the Upsy Daisy stamp set to give me that great row of flowers at the bottom of my layout. Solid image stamps like this one are great for making borders.

Shades of Spring Layout - Page 2

The Level 1 Hostess stamp set “Of the Earth” has wonderful images of Spring and I’ve been wanting to use it for awhile now, but needed just the right reason. And I think I found it in this layout. The images from this set made for beautiful embellishments and awesome additions to these pages.

Spring Layout Tag Embellishment

You’ll find as you look through the Idea Book & Catalog that Stampin’ Up! has some of the best artists creating their images and there are many more like the ones featured in this Hostess set. I used the Sizzix Bigz Two Tags Die to make the white tag background on this particular embellishment. It’s the same one I used in my previous post to make the bookmark.

Friendship Embellishment

A technique I used on the flowers in the Friendship Embellishment is one called “Thumping”. You start out by inking up your main image in a light colored ink, then take a Stampin’ Marker of coordinating dark ink and while holding your stamp upside down “thump” the marker onto your image randomly. Then “huff” on your stamp to rewet the image and then stamp down onto your paper. I know it sounds silly, but it really does rewet the ink. This technique gives you the multi-colored image shown on the embellishment to the right.

I am excited to be doing some scrapbooking layouts at last as many of my customers have been asking for them. See you in class or down the ocean Ladies!

Supplies:  Stamp Sets:  Upsy Daisy, Of the Earth, Song of Spring and Schoolbook Serif Alphabet; Cardstock: Pretty in Pink, Gable Green, and Whisper White; Ink:  Pretty in Pink, Basic Black, Gable Green and Green Galore; Accessories:  Stampin’ Dimensionals, Stampin’ Sponges, Sizzix Big Shot, Sizzix Bigz Two Tag Die, Scallop Circle, Scallop Circles #2, Paper Piercer & Mat Pack, Filigree Brad, Pretty in Pink Striped Ribbon, Punches: 1/2″ Circle, Scallop Oval, Scallop Square, and 5-Petal Flower.
