Autumn Jewelry Pins

I’ve been wanting to make a flower pin using the Big Shot and Fun Flowers Bigz L Die.  Well, I finally got around to going to the fabric shop in town.  For a first try, I guess they’re not too bad. I used some organza spools I found for only $2.50/roll so they are just the right size for fitting on the Fun Flowers die.  I cut a couple of pieces so my flowers would be nice and full.  I sandwiched the layers of fabric on my die and ran it through my Big Shot. I then stacked each of the petal sizes on top of each other and punched a hole in the middle of my flower with a Crop-a-dile.  I inserted an Antique Brads in the center to keep them all together and then pulled out my embossing gun.  I held the flower down with a bone folder on my cutting mat so it wouldn’t fly off the table while heating the fabric.  I then lightly began heating the edges of the fabric petals until they started to curl and stiffen rotating the flower and even turning it over, lifting the petal edges and heating them until I got the desired effect. Be careful not to get the heat too close or it will shrivel up or even begin to burn.  I used my glue gun to adhere a jewelry pin back on it so I can attach it to my Stampin’ Up! bag.  Here’s the 2nd try:

I wish I had more time to play because I have some other ideas in mind I would like to try, but I am busy inventorying and pricing my retired product to get ready for the Cropmania Yardsale on Sunday from 9 am to 2 pm at the Annapolis Elks Lodge. There will be over 50 tables with lots of scrapbooking and stamping goodies for your shopping pleasure!  I have lots of stamp sets, ribbon, embellishments and background paper marked down 50% or more! Make sure you get there early because I hear the line starts forming quickly. I hope to see you there!

Here’s another view of both pins.  Hopefully you can see alittle more definition in the petals.

Gently Falling Favors

Thanksgiving Favor

Fall is one of my favorite times of year – the weather starts to cool down, the leaves start to change colors and then begin gently falling. Thanksgiving is then just around the corner.  Wouldn’t this box look great at everyone’s plate when you sit down for the best holiday dinner ever?  You may not have room for a full dessert, but you always have room for two little chocolates! Especially when they are Ghiradelli caramels.  They fit perfectly inside this box which is made with the Bitty Box w/Envelope Bigz XL Die.  It’s a charming little box with leaves from the new Gently Falling stamp set decorating it. I also used the new Spice Cake Fabric as ribbon by tearing strips of fabric and fraying it around the edges and then adhered Spice Cake DSP on the top and bottom of the box.  This box is very easy to put together and requires only a small amount of adhesive.  Falling Gently is full of different size leaves plus a little acorn. This set is a two step stamp set meaning you stamp a solid stamp image and then an overlay of an outline stamp in a different color to highlight and define the original stamped image.  I used Pumpkin Pie Ink with an overlay of Soft Suede Ink on my leaves. It’s so fun and easy to use a stamp set like this.  In addition to the two leaves stamped for the top of the box I then stamped two extra images and placed them on top of each of my chocolates for an extra flair when you open your box of chocolates.  Finished it off with a small acorn and a tag of thanks from the Fabulous Phrases stamp set.
