Summer Treats!

Fourth of July Treat Box

The Heat is on and Summer is upon us! What a great time to make treats for your guests at an upcoming BBQ or picnic. I found this great star-spangled salt water taffy candy from Super Fresh Supermarket and wanted to make a Fourth of July box treat that everyone would enjoy. I did the same design on both sides of the box so you can see the candy from both sides.  I used the Fancy Favor die to make the box on my Big Shot.  I then used the brand new 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle Extra Large punch that is available for purchase  today in the new Stampin’ Up! Catalog. I love the way it frames out the candy!  Here’s how to make the scallop frame:  Using the 2-3/8″ Circle Punch, punch a circle out of a piece of Real Red scrap CS. Set the punched circle aside and use the piece of cardstock with the hole punched out.  Then line up the new Scallop Circle punch around your punched out circle and punch again and you will have a Scallop Circle Frame for the center of your box. Save the circle you punched out for a future project.

We made the July 4th treat boxes at my downline meeting last Saturday along with this picnic treat.

Raspberry Treat

No, they are not real raspberries, but gummy ones!  There are made by the same company, Haribo, that makes gummy bears and sold in the gold bags at most discount stores.  My downline told me I always find the coolest candy.  I have to admit any time I go shopping I end up in the candy aisle looking for something new to create with!  I’m always matching candy with Stampin’ Up!’s cardstock and inks which will now be so much easier because I can take my new Color Coach with me. It looks similar to a paint store color swatch and it will be available for order starting today for $14.95.  It features all Stampin’ Up!’s new colors along with numerous different color combinations.  Great for making all your card and scrapbooking creations coordinate.  If you would like a copy of the new Stampin’ Up! Catalog for FREE along with FREE hostess benefits, book your workshop today. My workshops typically feature 3-4 hands-on projects for everyone to complete and take home.  So get your friends and family together this summer for a fun time of stamping!  I am also available for one-on-one consultations to help you design  ideas for your next event.

Fourth of July with a Bang!

I created this card for my Punch Art class and really went to town with alot of Stampin’ Up!’s punches.  The stamp set I used is called July Fourth and is in the Summer Mini Catalog.  The large star in the stamp set coordinates with our Large Star Punch. Unfortunately the Little Star punch will be retiring tomorrow.  Not sure why they are retiring it, but it could have something to do with all of Stampin’ Up!’s punches being converted over to the new style shown below.  I also used the new Red, White and Blue Jumbo Wheel for the background also featured in the Summer Mini.  Both of these items are available to order through August 31, 2010.  If you have military in the family, these stamps are great for making cards to help support them while they are away.

Supplies:  Stamp Set:  Fourth of July; Jumbo Wheel:  Red, White & Blue; Cardstock:  Real Red, Brilliant Blue, Whisper White and Brushed Gold; Ink:  Real Red and Brilliant Blue; Accessories:  Jumbo Wheel Handle, Brilliant Blue Ink Cartridge, Gold Brads, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Real Red 5/8″ Satin Ribbon (summer mini), Punches:  Large and Small Star, Scallop Circle, 1-3/8″ Circle, 1/2″ Circle, Large Oval and Designer Label.
