Mocha Morning I Do!

With Summer around the corner, so come the wedding processions. Here is a lovely card using the Mocha Morning Specialty DSP again. As you can see from all my cards posted this past week this DSP is great for any occasion.  To give this card some extra shine, I sprayed it with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz. I also sponged Very Vanilla Craft Ink onto the square behind the heart to give it an aged feeling and embossed it with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Here is a closeup.

Here are some more pics of the ladies from the North Carolina Retreat too!

Tea for Two!

Yes, Please! Isn’t this teacup from Stampin’ Up!’s new stamp set, “Tea Shoppe”, absolutely wonderful?  The pansies on the cup are so delicate and are one of my favorite flowers – as a young girl I remember my mom planting them every year in our garden. This card is a great way to invite a friend over for tea and cookies and a chat come Springtime.  Yes, I know we are just coming up on winter, but we can plan ahead, can’t we?  Make a couple of these cards, then set aside a few days in March to invite a friend over, each on their very own special day. Get some girl time in! There are two new products featured here, along with the Tea Shoppe stamp set:  the Framelits Dies – Labels Collection and Embosslits Die – Fashionable Hearts. Asheville, NC Stamp/Scrap Retreat

I finally arrived at my Stamp/Scrap Retreat yesterday afternoon. I flew into the Greenville/ Spartansburg Airport in South Carolina and then rented a car to carry me and all my STUFF to the Ridgecrest Retreat Center in Asheville, NC. The drive to the retreat center was beautiful with all the changing foliage along the way. I managed to squeeze my clothing and all my supplies into two large suitcases and one small carry-on.  All arrived safely without incidence, except for a brief inspection of one of my suitcases by the TSA as indicated by this tag. They were probably wondering what all those scissors and blades were doing in there. LOL!  I have been having alot of fun meeting new friends, sharing ideas and attending classes.

I’ve included some of the projects I’ve been working on so far – holiday gift tags using the Letters to Santa Designer Series Paper and a gift card that will be offered  in my Holiday Gift Card Stamp a Stack on December 8 and 15 from 6-10 p.m. Take one class or both. Cost is $20.00 for each class. This gift card holder is perfect for the men in your life. Very manly with the woodgrain paper from the Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Paper pack along with the stately deer from the Winter Post stamp set. When open, the gift card sits in a pocket on the left and your word saying is on a small card to the right.

Will try to post again later tonight with more projects from my retreat. Thanks for checking in with me!

Pretty in Pink Spring Banner

Happy Spring Everyone!  I wanted to make a banner for my Spring Home and Garden Expo display and this is what I came up with.  I was so busy at the Expo I forgot to take pictures there, so I displayed it on my Baker’s Rack at home.  I think I’ll keep it there on display for my Open House next month (May 15).  I used Pretty in Pink, Crumb Cake and Whisper White cardstock.  The Big Shot makes banner making quite easy. The cardstock is folded in half and placed on the Pennant Die and run through the Big Shot.  When you pull it out, open it up and you have a full-sized pennant for your banner.  I love vintage so I used the “Bliss” stamp set once again. The flowers were made with the Fun Flowers die, sponged with ink, layered and secured with a Vintage brad in the center.  The brad also secured it to the end of each pennant section.  I put Jumbo Eyelets in each side of the pennant sections and grouped them together with Pretty in Pink 5/8″ satin ribbon.  Here is a closeup of one of the pennant sections.  The lettering for “Spring” was made using the “Serif Essentials Alphabet” die.  I mounted each letter on a Crumb Cake oval cut from the Oval Scallop Frame and then popped them up on the center of each pennant.  The possibilities are endless with this die – birthdays, holidays or just about any celebration. You would definitely get your money’s worth out of this die!

Supplies:  Stamp Set:  Bliss; Cardstock:  Pretty in Pink, Crumb Cake and Whisper White; Ink:  Crumb Cake and Pretty in Pink; Accessories:  Big Shot, Dies:  Pennant, Fun Flowers, Oval from the Oval Scallop Frame and Serif Essentials Alphabet, Vintage Brads, Jumbo Eyelets, Pretty in Pink 5/8″ Satin Ribbon, Sponges, and Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Spring Songbirds!

I love these three little songbirds even though they are taking a backseat to the  new “Build A Blossom” flower.  I wanted to give the appearance of peeking out your window into your backyard garden with this card. Doesn’t it make you long for spring?

Vintage Build A Blossom

I created the flower by stamping each petal with Crumb Cake ink onto Pretty in Pink cardstock and punching each petal out with the new Blossoms Petal Punch.  The blossom turned out absolutely beautiful, especially after I sprayed each petal with Vanilla Smooch Spray to make them glisten.   To put the flower together after stamping all the petals, I stacked them on top of each other, punched a hole through the entire stack on the inside tip of the petals using a Crop-A-Dile.  To hold all the petals together I inserted an antique brad to the center and fanned all the petals out.  I then curled under the edges of the petals using my bone folder.  To separate and lift some parts of the petals I added some dimensionals.  I then attached the small butterfly from the “Clearly for You” stamp set and stamped Friend from “You’re A Gem” .   All three stamp sets I used on this card are available in the new Mini Occasions Catalog.
